1. The WCMS girls’ team had a phenomenal season! They started their season with a second place win at Athens Christian. From there the girls just continued to dominate our Mountain League with first place wins at Union, home, Lumpkin (where the team individually place 1-10 gaining a perfect score of 15 points), Habersham, and Towns. The ladies were undefeated placing first in the Mountain League Championship. At Unicoi they again blew the competition away placing second. The top runners for our girls team are: Jaelen Alexander, Ellie Gearing, Addie Bolton, Audrey Hildebran, Leah Alexander, Naomi Crumley, Maria McCue, Shelby Spain, Maggie Davidson, Rachel Lovell, and Aubrey Dowdy.
These eleven ladies represented White County Middle School at the State Championship on Saturday, October 18, 2014. This is the first time the middle school team has been to the State Championship. They did a fantastic job. In the JV Middle School race Maria McCue placed ninth, Maggie Davidson twelfth, Aubrey Dowdy 61st, and Rachel Lovell 63rd out of 182 girls in the field. For the Varsity Middle School race Ellie gearing placed 26th, Jaelen Alexander 29th, Addie Bolton 46th, Shelby Spain 55th, Leah Alexander 56th, Audrey Hildebran 62nd, and Naomi Crumley 86th out of 213 girls in the field. 2. This year, WCMS had a team of FFA members that placed 7th in the State Dairy Judging Career Development Event this year. The team practiced and prepared for weeks prior to the contest and made the trip to the UGA Dairy in Tifton to evaluate several classes of dairy cows. Members also had to give two sets of reasons or explanations to the judges.
3. The White County Middle School has just started going to Savannah. This is the first year the eighth graders have gone to Savannah instead of Jekyll Island. This trip also enriches students with communication skills, teamwork skills, and helps them learn about nature through the 4-H Program.

4. Girls’ soccer team, coached by Matt Lockwood, was undefeated this season 0-12. This season, the girls were never scored upon. They scored 42 goals all together. They were also region champions.

5. The White County Middle School has just started going to Tybee Island. This is the second year the seventh graders have gone to Tybee Island. Through this trip, they learn teamwork skills, communication skills, and learn about nature all in one trip!
